  • ***TABLE QUIZ CANCELLED***
    The table quiz scheduled for tomorrow night Tuesday has been postponed until a later date due to the weather conditions.
  • Underage Hurling/Camogie
    There will be indoor Hurling/Camogie this Saturday from 10.45 to 12 in Fenagh Handball Alley. New players always welcome, boys and girls under the age of 12. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the County Board, Fenagh Handball Club and St. Mary's, Ballinamore, Gortletteragh and Glencar/Manorhamilton Hurling Club but most especially parents and members of Kiltubrid GAA for all their help and support in getting the underage hurling off the ground in the parish. Hopefully we will have as much interest with the under 16's in the new year!
  • Handball
    Anybody interested in playing Handball at any age or level can contact Peter Heany on 087-9934069. It is a wonderful game for keeping in shape over the winter period and its great for burning off the christmas dinner!
  • Club Engagement
    Congratulations and best wishes to Senior Men's Player Aidan Bohan and Senior Ladies Player/Secretary Breda Holahan who announced their engagement over the christmas period. We wish the couple many happy years in their future together.
  • Highlander/Lowlander Game
    Unfortunately due to the bad weather conditions, our Highlander/Lowlander game was postponed and may be rescheduled to a later date, weather permitting.
  • Seasons Greetings
    We extend Season’s Greetings to all our friends and supporters at home and abroad. Thank you to all who worked endlessly over the past year to the benefit of the Club, to all who supported us during fundraising campaigns and also to the Leitrim Observer for providing us with the facilities to promote and highlight our club.

    The December lotto draw takes place this Friday night January 1st in Cardiff's Drumcong. Please make sure you all have your tickets in, if your not in - you cant win!

  • Coaching Course 2010
    Please note that we will be organising a Coaching Foundation course and Code of ethics Course early in the New Year. It is now compulsory that all persons involved with any team, both under age and adult, have completed at least this foundation course before commencing involvement with any team.
  • Sympathy
    We offer our deepest sympathies to the McLaughlin Family and the Fenagh GAA club on the recent tragic death of Garda Gary McLaughlin. May he rest in Peace, Amen.
  • Table Quiz
    The club have arranged a table quiz for next Tuesday December 29th in Cardiff’s Lounge at 8pm. Table of four is forty euro. Great prizes and raffle on the night. Your support would be greatly appreciated in this, our last fundraising event of the year.
  • Birth
    Congratulations to ladies player Sandra Earley and Barry Lupton on the birth of their baby girl last weekend, a little sister for Latisha and Jodie.
  • Highlander/Lowlander
    Don’t forget to come out on St Stephen’s Day at 1.30pm in the Park for the Annual Highlander/Lowlander game. All players 17 years an upwards are eligible to participate. Funds raised on the day goes towards local charities in the area. The new GAA Rules for 2010 will be implemented as part of the game so it will be interesting to see who can be the cuter team to catch onto the rules the quickest! We ask all parishioners to get out and join in the fun and come down to the park for a great hour’s entertainment.

  • Under Age Team Coaches 2010
    We have appointed most of our under age team coaches for 2010 as follows. Under 8 and 10; Finbarr Keaney, Pat McWeeney. Under 12; Pat McWeeney, Gerry Winters and Padraig Lynch. Under 14; Liam Ferry, Kevin Meehan and Declan Tivnan. Under 16; James Gill, Niall Foley and Conor Doherty. Under 18; Barry McKeirnan and Gavin Kelly. Under 21; Noel Gill. We plan to have an underage registration night in January where all players will have to attend in order to be eligible to play in 2010. Any parent, player or individual willing to help assist with any of these teams, but especially with the under 8 and 10 age group, please contact the coaching officer Finbarr Keaney on 086-8196535.

    The Leitrim GAA County Convention took place last Sunday in the Bush Hotel. We wish all newly elected officers well in the year ahead.
  • Coiste Chontae Liatroma Awards 2009
    Congratulations to Marie Lee who was announced last week as the Jim Lynch Hall of Fame Award Winner, to Mary Shanley, Kilclare who received the Lady Handballer of the Year and Jamie Murray who has been awarded Senior Handballer of the year by Coiste Chontae Liatroma. Well done and congratulations to all three who are worthy winners of these awards which will be presented early next year.
  • Highlander/Lowlander
    Yes its that time of the year again when the mighty highlanders seek revenge on the speedy lowlanders who came out worthy winners in last years game. The game is fixed for 1.30pm on St Stephens Day in the park. All players 17 years an upwards are eligable to participate. Funds raised on the day goes towards local charities in the area. The question now is which team will the mighty Carroll play for this year and on the other hand who will be able to adhere to the new GAA rules the best. The answers remain to be seen so mark the date and time in your diary and get out and support the young and the not so young footballers in the parish!

  • SCOR na nOg
    The semi finals of Scor na nÓg takes place this weekend with our club taking part in Carrick on Shannon Community Centre on Sunday 6th December at 3pm. This promises to be a great day out for all the family and we ask as many to support as possible. Good luck to all participants.
  • AGM
    A successful AGM took place last Sunday in Liscarbin Community Centre. The officers elected for the coming year were: Chairperson Dermot Heeran, Assistant Chairperson Padraig Lynch, Secretary Patricia Lee, Assistant Secretary Liam O’Brien, Assistant Treasurer John Flynn, PRO Emer Gilmartin, Coaching and Underage Officers Finbarr Keaney and Barry McKiernan, IT Officer Brendan Doyle and Shane Cardiff, Culture and Language Officer Imelda McWeeney, Park Committee Rep Derek Foley, County Board Delegates John Flynn and Kevin Nealon. We thank all of those who took the time to come to the meeting, it was encouraging to see some new faces. We wish the new committee all the best for the year ahead.
  • Kiltubrid Ladies Lotto Results
    The November lotto draw took place last Sunday night in Gerties, Keshcarrigan. The winning numbers drawn were:

  • Hurling
    Underage Hurling takes place this Saturday from 11am to 12pm in Liscarbin Community Centre. The cost is 2.50 euro each to cover the cost of the hall. New helmets have arrived and are available to buy from Shane Cardiff at training or from Cardiff’s Shop, Drumcong at a price of 35 euro. Hurls are also available at 15 euro each.
  • AGM
    Reminder that the club AGM has been scheduled for Sunday 29th November at 3pm in Liscarbon Community Centre. Following our successful pre-AGM last week, we are fortunate to have nominees for positions for the following year. Therefore, the election of officers for next year will not delay the meeting. Club members, players and parents of underage players should mark this date in their diaries as it is very important that you attend.
  • SCOR
    Preparation will begin shortly for the play/novelty act event for Scor Sinsear 2009. We are calling on anyone from within the parish who would be interested in taking part and to represent the club in this year’s event.   • Club Meeting
    The next club meeting takes place in Cardiff's Drumcong this Thursday evening at 8.30pm. All executive members take note.
  • Sympathy
    The club extend sympathy to the families of the late Rosaleen McNulty, Drumkeelan, Mary Ellen Cullen, Drumshanbo and Michael Doherty, Gorvagh who died over the past week. May they rest in peace.
  • Social
    A social in aid of Martin McHugh will take place this Friday night in the Shannon Key West Hotel in Roosky. If you wish to support this cause, tickets are available from the club secretary at 10 euro.
  • League Finals
    Congratulations and well done to our Junior team who had a win over Sean O'Heslins in the League Final which was played in wet conditions in Cloone on 24th October. Unfortunately for our Senior team, it wasnt to be last Saturday when Glencar Manorhamilton came out winners in the other League Final. We say congratulations to Glencar Manor on securing the double title for this year and wish them well in their connacht club campaign. Well done to all the lads and management for their committment in what was a long year of football.
  • Key of the Door
    Congratulations to ladies player Lisa McWeeney who celebrated her 21st birthday on Saturday night in Keshcarrigan. Lisa's daddy Joseph also celebrated a special birthday on the night!

    Congratulations to Donal Wrynn from Fenagh who won the world U-15 one wall singles title in Portland Oregon USA recently. Well done on a fantastic achievement. We say well done to Annaduff and Leitrim Gaels on their wins in the Junior B and C Championships at the weekend. Also congratulations to St Francis who were crowned Minor Champions.
  • Wedding Bells
    Congratulations and best wishes to Senior Goalie Noel Gill, Kilclare and Linda McGowan, Ballinamore who tied the know on Friday last. We wish the happy couple many years of happiness together.
  • Division 4 Final
    We contest the Division 4 final this Saturday at 2pm in Cloone against Sean O’Heslins. Please support by wearing your club colours. Good luck to all the team and management involved.
  • Under 21
    Our under 21 team play the Quarter Final against Dromahair this Bank Holiday Monday. Venue to be confirmed.

  • Under 12 Boys
    Hard luck to our under 12 boys team who lost out in the championship final to Aughnasheelin on Saturday last. Well done to all the panel and mentors on reaching the final. The team and mentors took part in the half time pageant representing our club in Pairc Sean during the County Finals last Sunday. Meanwhile well done to the girls Under 12 B team who won their final last Saturday.
  • Congratulations
    We say congratulations to Aughavas who became Junior Champions, Cloone who became the county Intermediate Champions and to Glencar Manor who were crowed Senior Champions at the weekend. Well done to all three teams who ran out winners on the day.
  • Sympathy
    We extend our sympathy to the Kelly and Mahon families on the death of their brother and uncle Frank Mahon, England and formerly of Gortnawane who passed away recently. Also to the Farrell family, Ballinwing on the death of Frankie Farrell. May they rest in peace.

  • Thank You
    The club would like to thank all those who supported the recent fundraising draw. We especially thank the volunteers from the club who travelled from door to door each evening selling tickets around the county, a job which is not easy. We thank you for your efforts which is much appreciated.
  • Results
    Hard luck to our Junior C team who suffered a defeat to Eslin last Sunday. Our Junior A team play Melvin Gaels in the relegation final this Saturday at 4pm in Ballinaglera.

  • Fixtures
    Our division 4 team play Aughavas at 5.30pm this Saturday evening at home while on Sunday our division 5 team take on Leitrim Gaels also at home at 1.30pm. Our ladies team play St Joseph at 12pm on Sunday at home. Good luck to all teams this weekend.
  • SCOR Award
    Kiltubrid SCOR Group received a special overall award in the SCOR finals last weekend being the best overall club to participate in this years SCOR events. We say well done to our coordinator Imelda McWeeney who worked hard preparing the group over the last few weeks. Well done to all participants on receiving this well deserved award.
  • Art Exhibition
    A solo art exhibition of paintings by Marie Lee will be launched this Friday evening at 7.30pm in the Solas Art Gallery in Ballinamore. A cheese and wine reception will take place on launch night so please support if you can. This exhibition will take place for three weeks with many of Marie’s paintings on display.
  • Leitrim Supporters Club
    Despite having no winners from the parish in the Leitrim Supporters Club Draw, the club won the prize of 2000euro for increasing our sale on tickets from last year. Thanks to all who sold and bought tickets from the club.
  • Club Meeting
    The next club meeting takes place this Wednesday night at 8.30pm in Gerties, Kesh. All members please attend.
  • Championship Draw
    The championship draw for 2009 took place on Monday night last in the Bush Hotel. Kiltubrid were drawn in group two and join Drumreilly and Sean O’Heslins.

  • Race Night
    The club are currently organising a Race night to raise much needed funds for the club. This will take place in McKeons Bar, Keshcarrigan on Saturday March 14th. Races, Horses, jockeys and trainers are currently being sold by various club members. Races are being sold at 100 euro with jockeys, trainers etc 10 euro and 20 euro. There will be a number of races including an auction race and also a Tote will be in operation on the night. Please support this event as best you can if you are approached for sponsorship over the next few weeks. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.
  • SCOR
    Scor takes place this weekend, on Friday 6th March in Aughavas Community Centre and on Saturday night in Ballinaglera Community Centre. The club will take part in the solo singing, recitation, question time and novelty act on the first night with the ballad group and recitation taking part on the second night. This has proved an enjoyable night’s entertainment in the past and we would encourage as many people in the parish as possible to support on either night. Good luck to all concerned.
  • Under 16's
    Training for under 16's takes place every Monday at 8pm. The league starts on March 14th. We need your full co-operation or we will not be able to field a team at this grade. The following players are asked to attend training: Declan Beirne, Alan Crossan, Michael Heeran, Brendan McCormack, Stephen McKeon, John Morris Watson, Kevin Prior, Stephen Brackan, Niall Doherty, Liam Jordan Davies, Christopher McKeon, Shane Meehan, Anthony Murray and Mark Reynolds.
  • Under 14's
    Our Under 14's are home to Leitrim Gaels next Sunday 7th March at 12 noon. All players please take note.
  • Seniors
    Our seniors shared the points with Glencar Manor at the weekend in the second game of the league.
  • Division 5
    Our division 5 team play neighbours Fenagh this Sunday at 11.30pm in Fenagh.

  • SCOR
    Our club will take part in Scor on Friday 6th March in Aughavas Community Centre and will enter into the play and also the question time event. The following night, the club will take part in the singing and recitation event. This has proved an enjoyable night’s entertainment in the past so your support would be appreciated on the night.
  • Refereeing
    A Foundation Level Course for all new referees, both adult and juvenile, will be held in the Bush Hotel on Friday night 27th February commencing at 7.30pm.
  • Foundation Award Coaching Course
    It is very important that all persons involved with teams at any level in the club have completed this or an equivalent course. To try and facilitate all coaches who may have difficulty attending courses on either Friday evening or Saturday morning the county board have scheduled the next Foundation award to take place over two Sunday mornings. The first section will take place on Sunday morning the 8th March from 9.30 am to 1pm, with the second part taking place on Sunday 15th March 10 am to 2pm. It is hoped these times will give third level students and workers a chance to complete the course. All coaches interested in attending this course are asked to please confirm their attendance with their club coaching officer Finbarr Keaney on 086 8196535.
  • Club Membership – Final Reminder
    Club membership for this year is now well overdue. Adult/Non Players €30, Student/Underage Players €20 and there is a special family membership now available, 2 Adults and as many children as you want for €70. Contact registrar Eoin Meehan 0863153438. All those who are paid up members will receive their 2009 Car sticker and will be added to text messaging service. Anyone who has not paid their club membership by the end of February will no longer receive texts until membership is paid. A list of players who have and who have not paid their membership will be put in the dressing room next weekend, you have been warned.
  • Race Night

  • Connacht Coaching Conference
    This year's Connacht GAA provincial coaching conference will be held on Saturday March 7th, in St. Brigids GAA centre Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon and will, for the first time host a section specially, for Ladies football. All delegates attending will receive a conference pack, light refreshments and lunch on the day. This years Key note speaker will be prof. Niall Moyna who will present on the topic "Training v Playing" - are we getting the balance right? The conference will then switch to a range of practical workshops to cover various aspects of coaching.   • Underage Timetable 2009
    Please find the following dates for the start of the various league competitions this year. Under 14 leagues starts March 7th. Under 16 leagues starts March 14th, Under 12 Blitz starts June 8th.
  • Minor 9 A Side League
    Our minors lost out to Bornacoola last weekend in an overall low scoring game. Final Score ended Kiltubrid 1-04 Bornacoola 2-04. Team was as follows: Anthony Murray, Steven Bracken, John Morris Watson, Micheal Heeran, Micheal Geoghegan, Daniel Tighe, Alan Crossan, Daniel McGirl, Prionsias Gilmartin, Shane Evans and Sean Kelly. Next up is Gortletteragh. Check fixtures for date and time.
  • Get Well Soon
    Get well soon to Anthony Murray who picked up a bad injury near the end of the Minor game, all in the club hope to see Anthony back in action soon.
  • Division 5
    Division 5 training resumes this Saturday evening at 5.30pm in the pitch. A large turnout required and new members are always welcome.
  • Senior League
    We kicked off the season last Sunday in Ballinamore with a win over Sean O’Heslins. The strong wind proved important on the day with Kiltubrid taking advantage of it in the first half by building up enough of a lead to secure the points. Next up is Glencar Manor this Saturday at 4pm at home. Please support if you can.
  • Ladies Lotto
    Draw takes place this weekend. All yearly subscribers from 2008 are reminded to renew their numbers for the coming year. You can do so by completing a lotto envelope in any of the premises around the parish. Jackpot now stands at 5,500 euro.

  • County Board Meeting
    County Board Meeting takes place next Monday 2nd March at 8.30pm in Drumshanbo. Can all delegates please take note.
  • Training:

    Club membership for this year is now overdue. Adult/Non Players €30, Student/Underage Players €20 and there is a special family membership now available, 2 Adults and as many children as you want for €70.     The club are currently organising a Race night to raise much needed funds for the club. This will take place in McKeons Bar, Keshcarrigan on Saturday March 14th. Races, Horses, jockeys and trainers are currently being sold by various club members. There will be nine races including an auction race and also a Tote will be in operation on the night. Please support this event as best you can if you are approached for sponsorship over the next few weeks. As always, your support is greatly appreciated.
  • Valentine Wedding
    Heartiest congratulations to Grainne Gill, Kilclare and Ronan McCormack, Annaduff who tied the knot on Saturday last in St Brigid’s Church Drumcong and also to Pat Prior, Aghacashel and Pauline McNamee, Ballinamore who were married in Ballinamore Parish Church. We wish both couples all the best for their future together.

  • Coaching Course
    A coaching course has been organised by Connaught Council GAA and Connaught Ladies Football. It will be held in St. Brigids GAA Club Kiltoom, Co. Roscommon on Saturday 7th March commencing at 9.45am and finishing at 3.30. This course is a great opportunity for all those interested in coaching and also playing. Consisting of both practical sessions given by Tyrone's two time all-star Eilis Gormley and also sessions on training v playing and match analysis. The cost is 20euro if you prebook or 25euro on the day. Please contact Patricia Bohan if you wish to reserve a place.

    Well do to Padraig Lynch, Liam Ferry Gerry Winters & Finbarr Keaney who have completed the Croke Park approved foundation level coaching course. It is important that anyone else who is involved with any team from youth to senior level also complete this course as soon as possible.   • Refereeing
    A Foundation Level Course for all new referees, both adult and juvenile, will be held in the Bush hotel on Friday night 27th February commencing at 7.30pm. The first referee meeting of the year is on 19th February in the Bush Hotel at 8.30pm for current referees.
  • Club Meeting
    The next Club Meetings takes place this Thursday 5th February in Cardiff’s at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome.
  • Finance Meeting
    A finance meeting will take place on Wednesday evening 4th February in the dressing rooms after training. Please contact Adrian if you cannot attend.
  • Minor League
    The Minor League kicks off the 2009 season this Sunday February 8th at 12pm with an away game to Gortletteragh. Kiltubrid will take part in the 9 aside competition in Group B with Leitrim Gaels and Bornacoola also in the group. Good luck to all concerned.

  • Noel Gilmartin – R.I.P.
    The death took place on Tuesday last of Noel Gilmartin, Kilclare Beg at the University College Hospital, Galway following a short illness. We send our sympathies to his loving wife Agnes, sisters Mary (Galway) and Lil (Ballymote), his brothers Joe, Francis and Michael (Luton), and John James and Anthony (Kilclare), nephews, nieces, cousins and his wide circle of friends and extended relatives. Noel was well known all over the county from the many jobs that he undertook in his lifetime, which included farming, painting and taxi driving. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Noel’s funeral mass took place on Thursday last in St Brigid’s Church, Drumcong and afterwards to Kiltoghert Cemetery. May he rest in peace.

    Congratulations to the following from our club who received awards at the Annual Leitrim GAA Awards which was held in the Bush Hotel – To Finbarr Keaney who received Referee of the Year, to Shane Foley who received County Player or the Year and to Emmett Mahon who received Minor Player of the Year. A great night was had by all who attended from the club. Well done to all award winners.

    Well done to An Rince Foirne from Glencar/Manorhamilton and An Bailéad Ghrúpa, Ballinamore Seán O´Heslins who came out worthy winners at the Connacht Scór na nÓg which was held in Claremorris recently.
  • Vhi Cul Camps 2009
    A reminder to parents and children of the dates for the County’s Cul camps in 2009 for children between the ages 7 - 13 yrs. A new kit has been designed for all those attending this year´s camps. This years camps will commence on 6th July and will follow the same format as 2008. Venues and dates are as follows: 06/07/09 - Aughawillan, Manorhamilton, Ck-on-Shannon. 13/07/09 - Kinlough, Drumshanbo, Mohill. 20/07/09 - Aughavas, Dromahair, Gortletteragh. 27/07/09 - Drumkeerin, Fenagh, Leitrim.

    Our GAA Club AGM took place last Sunday in Liscarbin Social Centre. Attendance level was on a par with previous AGM’s . A full breakdown of activities for the year past was reported to the meeting by the various officers. We thank all the outgoing officers for their hard work over the past few years in office. We welcome the following committee and wish them well for the coming year.     The annual St Stephen’s Day charity inter club football game took place on St Stephen’s Day with a good attendance. The Highlanders landed the bragging rites after a very good hours football. The takings on the gate are to be divided between St Patrick’s Hospital Patients Comfort Fund and The Irish Hospice Foundation. A big thank you to all who attended and donated on the day.
