Un16 50 Year Reunion

The Fifty Year Reunion of Kiltubrid U-16 champions of 1967 and 1968 took place over the past weekend and a most enjoyable weekend was had by all. People travelled from the United States, England and many parts of Ireland to be present at the weekend events. It was a happy time for all the former players, some of whom had not met up in decades, and also for their families. The weekend celebrations started with Mass in St Brigid’s church in Drumcong, which was celebrated by Msgr Liam Kelly, for the deceased trainers and his former team mates who have died. Eleanor Shanley and Peter Farrell added greatly to the liturgy with their beautiful singing. It was followed by a group photograph and then a buffet meal in Cardiff’s where there was music and wonderful Sean Nós dancing by local children. Presentations were made to all the former players and also to the families of Tom Joe Mulvey, Noel Gilmartin, Eugene Leddy, Charles Egan and Peter Mulvey who are no longer with us. Presentations were also made to the family of the late Anselm Reynolds who trained the teams and to the family of Micheál Sweeney who assisted him. Also presentations were made to John Keaney and T.P. Keane who had helped with the teams back fifty years ago. Among those who spoke were Micheál Tighe, captain of the 1967 team, Francis Dwyer, captain of 1968 team, Peter Farrell, Seán Redican and Emmet Mahon, chairperson of the Kiltubrid GAA club.  On Saturday afternoon the group went on a tour of south Leitrim, enjoying the company and the chat and learning about some of the history of places that were part of all their early lives. Then there was a wonderful meal in the Lough Allen Hotel on Saturday night where the conversations continued late into the night. On Sunday afternoon they supported the present day Kiltubrid Intermediate and Junior teams who were in action with forty two players in all togged out representing their parish. It was a great weekend for both past and present Kiltubrid players and the future looks bright for the club which, in the words of T.S. Eliott ‘will take heart for the future remembering the past.’ The club is already planning for a bright future as they are fund-raising for an ambitious re-development of their club grounds. All in all a great weekend for the club and the parish!

Smith Monument's Intermediate Championship

Our Intermediate team booked their place in the Championship Quarter Final with a comfortable win over Mohill on Sunday last in Pairc Sean.  Next game is v Annaduff on Friday 24th August in Cloone.

Pyramid Bookmakers Junior Championship

Our Juniors put in an improved performance again Annaduff last week but came out the wrong side of the result.  Next up is the final group game v Mohill on Saturday 18th August at 5.30pm in Cloone with a place in the Quarter Finals at stake for the winners.

Under 13
Well done to our Un13 Boys who defeated Allen Gaels last week in the Championship.  Next up is Melvin Gaels away in St Osnatts on Thursday 16th August at 7.30pm.

Lyp Sync Legends Launch Night

Kiltubrid GAA & Kiltubrid Ladies GAA are holding a Lyp Sync Legends Event on November 17th.  In advance of this we are holding our Launch Night on Saturday August 25th in Gerties, Kesh at 8pm.  Acts will be presented to the Crowd on the night.  A good nights craic is gauranteed.

Club Development Draw
Kiltubrid GAA & Kiltubrid Ladies GAA have launched a Park Development Draw with all funds raised going directly to our Park Re-Development Works.  There is €5,000 in prizes on offer with tickets available from Players & Club Members.  The Draw takes place on Saturday 25th August.  Tickets can also be purchased securely online via 
www.klubfunder.com/Clubs/Kiltubrid_GAA.  You can return your Tickets & Monies to any member of either executive or drop it to the Park on Saturday 18th Aug between 10.45 and 11.15am.

Park Development Update
Everyone with an interest in the future Development of Kiltubrid GAA Park is encouraged to attend a Meeting next Saturday 11th August at 9pm in the Club Rooms.  An update from the Park Committee will be given on the current status of the proposed re-development works at the pitch.

Smith Monument's Intermediate Championship
Our Intermediate team followed up their opening round win with a comfortable win over Sean O'Heslins last Sunday in Cloone.  Next up is Round 3 v Mohill on Sunday 12th August at 12noon in Pairc Sean.

Pyramid Bookmakers Junior Championship
We play Mohill on Sunday 12th August at 1.45pm in St Mary's GAA Park, Carrick on Shannon.

Under 13
Well done to our Un13 Boys who got their first win of the Championship over Sean O'Heslins last week.  Next up is Allen Gaels at home on Thurs 9th August at 7.30pm

Smith Monument's Intermediate Championship
Our Intermediate team got their Championship off to a winning start against Carrigallen in Ballinamore on Saturday last.  Recovering from a number of Injury setbacks the lads regrouped to go in at Half Time 8 Points in front before returning for the second half winning out on a scoreline of 2-09 to 0-09.  Next up is Ballinamore Sean O'Heslins Sunday 5th August at 12noon in Cloone.

Pyramid Bookmakers Junior Championship
We didn't have a good day at the office against St Mary's in the opening round of the Junior Championship last Sunday losing to a much superior St Mary's outfit.  Next up is Mohill on Sunday 12th August with Venue/Time TBC.

Under 13
Hard luck to our Un13 Boys who were defeated by Gortletteragh last week.  Up next is Sean O'Heslins away next Thursday 2nd August at 7.30pm.

County Underage
Well done to both Dylan Easterbrook and Danny McWeeney who were part of the Leitrim Un15 Panel for Adam Mangan Sheild in Offaly  and also Aidan McCormack and Barry McWeeney who played for Leitrim Un16 against Louth in the Gerry Reilly Cup at the weekend.

Engagement
Congrats to Club Player Alan McGovern and Leonie McHugh who announced their engagement recently.

Kiltubrid Ladies GAA are holding an Academy Summer Camp again this year, it is open to boys and girls aged 5-14. The camp will take place from Tuesday August 7th to Friday August 10th from 10am to 2pm daily with a focus on skill development through fun games. The camp will be run by fully qualified coaches, see Facebook & Twitter for full details.

We finished our league campaign with a win at home to Glencar/Manorhamilton on a scoreline of 4-15 to 2-13.

The lads opened their Championship with a defeat at home to Drumkerrin,  Next up is Fenagh St Caillians Thurs 19th July at 7.30pm away..

Our division 2 team has had wins against Melvin Gaels and Cloone in the past 7 days. Well done to all involved.

Un12 Longford-Leitrim League
Hard luck to Cill Mhór Gaels Un12 Boys who bowed out of the Longford-Leitrim League at the Penultimate stage this evening.
Well done to all players and mentors from Kiltubrid GAA & Ballinamore Sean O’Heslins GAA who put in a great campaign.

Leitrim v Monaghan
Hard luck to the Leitrim team after the defeat. But after a successful year, the players can hold their head high. Keep up the good work!

Under 9
Well done to the Kiltubrid GAA Un9 team and mentors who represented the Club on Saturday at the Leitrim and Monaghan Game.

Stylish Silage
Well done to all involved in our entry for the stylish silage competition. It was completed by Aishling and Leo Dunne, Jack and Rose Keaney, Tom Jack and Susanne Moolick on behalf of the Kiltubrid does lip sync teams. Fantastic team effort!

Div 4
Our division 4 team took part in a thrilling game against Cloone in our pitch on Sunday. In a game where both teams were able to find plenty of space and play good attacking football it was only fair that it ended a draw with a scoreline of Kiltubrid 1-18 to Cloones 2-15. Well done to all involved.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations to our own Eamon Geoghegan & Nicola Finlay who tied the knot on Friday last. We would like to wish you both the very best for the future. 

Special Olympics
The Olympic torch arrived in St Bridget's NS kiltubrid on Monday 11th of June with members of the South Leitrim club, Supporters, volunteers, families all attending. The Pupils and teachers of St Bridgets fundraised for Leitrim's clubs and this was their reward.

Lá na gClubanna
A great end to the June Bank Holiday saw a big crowd descend on a sun kissed Pairc Cill Tiobraid for our Lá na gClubanna hosted by Kiltubrid GAA and Kiltubrid LGFA.  Activities for the Kids included novelty obstacle course, Rounders, Football and a keenly contested Tug O'War.  Thank You to Paul Carthy for providing Sound on the Day, our excellent Face Painters, those who provided the lovely Food & Drinks and everyone who helped the day run smoothly.

Club Strategic Plan 2017-2020
Our Club Strategic Plan 2017-2020 was launched at the weekend in conjunction with our Lá na gClubanna by Connacht Council President Gerry McGovern.  We'd like to acknowledge both Gerry and Declan Bohan's input in helping us form this Strategic Plan.  Well done to all who contributed their time and ideas which has allowed us put together plan through to 2020 which we will aim to follow over the next few years.  The Plan is available for viewing via our Club Website www.kiltubrid.gaa.ie

Schools Final
Hard luck to Drumcong NS Boys team who were defeated in the League Final by Drumlease NS last week.  Well done to Players, Coaches, Teachers & Parents on their efforts over the last few months.

Congrats to our division two team who had a deserved win against Mohill on a scoreline of 2-13 to 17 points. No game fixed for this weekend. 

The Swan Bar Div 4
Our division four team have an important league game on Sunday the 10th in our pitch at 12:00. Please support. 

Wedding 
All at the club would like to send Congratulations to James Foley and Bonnie Larounders who tied the knot at the weekend. We would like to wish you both the best for the future. 

Under 12
Kiltubrid and Sean O'Heslins have joined up as Cill Mhór Gaels in the Longford-Leitrim Cross Border Un12 League.  They got their campaign up and running with a win away to Northern Gaels in Longford last week.

Kiltubrid GAA & Kiltubrid Ladies GAA are holding a Family/Fun/Community Day on Bank Holiday Monday 4th June from 3pm - 5pm in Pairc Cill Tiobraid with Admission Free.  Fun Filled Activities for all the Kids and Big Kids!!  Activities include Novelty Athletic Events for all Ages.  Football Skills Challenge & Target Games.  Kids Obstacle Course, Rounders, Face Painting, Tug O'War, Welly/Sheaf Toss and Many More. Best wishes to the Aughavas Player on a Speedy Recovery on a Match Ending Injury picked up in the 1st Half.  Thank you to the Aughavas GAA Club for their Hospitality post game.

Hard luck to our Under 15 Boys who finished their League Campaign with Defeat away to Dromahair Gaa in the Semi Final.  
The lads now turn their attention to the Championship.
